Quinn’s Big Dream on the Tracks Brought to Life by Make-A-Wish

At its4women.ie, we are proud to support Make-A-Wish Ireland, a charity that brings joy, hope, and magical experiences to children living with critical illnesses. Recently, one very special little boy had his dream come true — a dream powered by imagination, resilience, and of course… trains.
Quinn is a young boy with a huge love for trains. Like many children his age, he adores the clack of the tracks, the whoosh of a fast-moving carriage, and the excitement of each journey. But Quinn’s story is unique.
He is living with Wilms tumour, a rare kidney cancer that affects children. His treatment involved radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and the removal of a kidney — and yet, throughout it all, his mum Orla describes him as endlessly brave and cheerful.
“He just got on with it,” she said. “Always sunny side out the whole time.”
So when Make-A-Wish Ireland heard that Quinn’s greatest wish was to become a train driver, their wish-granting team set out to make it an unforgettable experience.

Two Days of Pure Railway Magic
Quinn and his family travelled to Dublin for two exciting days with Irish Rail, where every moment was designed to make him feel like a true train driver.
At the Irish Rail Training Centre, Quinn stepped into a real-life train simulator. He navigated different landscapes, weather conditions, and train types — fully immersed in the world of a professional driver.
He then visited Heuston Station, where he learned how one of Ireland’s busiest stations operates. From departure boards to arriving services, Quinn saw it all. He even became a VIP ticket inspector, making sure passengers were travel-ready with their tickets in hand.
On the second day, Quinn continued his adventure at Connolly Station. He explored the station yard filled with historic trains, met the maintenance teams, toured the control rooms, and got to board the Enterprise, his favourite train of all.
And because no wish day is complete without a little extra magic, Quinn also popped into the LEGO Store, where he picked out a brand-new train set to add to his growing collection.

A Wish That Brings Hope
Stories like Quinn’s remind us of the extraordinary impact Make-A-Wish Ireland has on children and their families. Each wish brings strength, joy, and cherished memories during unimaginably difficult times.
At its4women.ie, we are honoured to support Make-A-Wish Ireland and to play a small part in helping raise awareness of the incredible work they do. Wishes like Quinn’s are made possible because of this wonderful charity and the kindness of partners like Irish Rail, who helped make his dream a reality
