This year’s M&S Marie Keating Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic proudly supported by its4women.ie, is set to be bigger and better than ever before with a host of celebrities from the world of sports, entertainment and music ready to descend on the renowned K Club golf course in Kildare on Thursday 27th July.
This summer’s most anticipated event and has become recognised as one of the most respected Irish charity golf tournaments. The event is sure to be a tee-rific and here are ten reasons why:
1. Spot the celebs
The line-up for this year’s event is the best yet with an array of celebrities confirmed including singer and son of Marie Keating – Ronan Keating, singers Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy of Boyzlife, former England rugby captain Mike Tindall, actress Denise Van Outen, actors James Nesbitt and Dougray Scott, BBC presenter Dan Walker, RTE Sports Commentator and former Liverpool and Ireland football player Ray Houghton, former Irish association football players of Manchester United, Liverpool and Wolverhampton - Ronnie Whelan, Don Givens and Keith Andrews, former Ireland rugby international Shane Byrne, snooker professional Ken Doherty, RTE dragon Eamonn Quinn, comedian Stan Boardman, former Irish jockeys Charlie Swan and Mike Kinane and Irish golf journalist Shane O’Donoghue.
2. Golf superstars
Many big names will be playing in the tournament this year including David Horsey and US open winner 2005 Michael Campbell.
Players and guests will be spoilt for choice entertainment wise as the fantastic day of golf will be followed by a gala dinner, auction, prize giving ceremony and entertainment allowing for the perfect opportunity to throw a few shapes on the dance floor.
4. Unbelievable venue
The 2017 M&S Marie Keating Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic is scheduled to take place on the Ryder Cup Course at the K Club on Thursday 27th July, which is considered one of Europe’s finest championship courses.
5. Record breaking prizes
2017 is set to be the biggest year in the event history, with an increased prize fund of €45,000 to be supported by an enhanced donation for the charity outside of the ropes. A Volvo S90 D3 and an IWC Pilot's Watch Double Chronograph Edition “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” will be offered to players who achieve a Hole-In-One at Hole 3 and Hole 12 respectively, courtesy of its4women.ie.
6. Added value
As an extra bonus feature, bonus cash prizes will be awarded to any player who achieves a Hole-In-One at Hole 8 and Hole 14, courtesy of its4women.ie.
7. Hidden gems in Kildare
There is lots to see and do in Kildare including stunning scenery to explore in areas like The Kildare Maze and the Liffey Walk, an historic treasure to experience at the Steam Museum and those looking for something really adventurous can visit the Off Road Driving Centre.

The event offers the chance to be part of something spectacular as the stunning Irish countryside will be a part of raising much needed funds for the incredible Irish charity.
10. The Marie Keating Foundation
This fabulous event takes place to raise much needed funds for the Marie Keating Foundation which provides free cancer awareness programmes and support services for men and women in Ireland. The Marie Keating Foundation’s nursing team and Mobile Information Units visit over 25,400 people a year to talk about cancer prevention and early detection, while the Foundation’s Comfort Fund provides financial assistance to families that are struggling as a result of cancer. The funds from this year’s event will support the Marie Keating Foundation’s School Cancer Awareness Programme which reaches approximately 25,000 secondary school students each year with advice on how to prevent cancer through healthy lifestyle choices and highlights the importance of early detection. The programme helps to dispel the fears that young people may have about the term “cancer” and it underlines the importance of knowing the facts about the disease.
