The M&S Marie Keating Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic proudly supported by its4women.ie
The 2017 M&S Marie Keating Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic took place on the Ryder Cup Course at the K Club on Thursday 27th July, which is considered one of Europe’s finest championship courses.
Now in its 19th year, the highly-anticipated flagship event has become recognised as one of the most prestigious Irish charity golf tournaments raising much needed funds for the foundation’s free cancer awareness programmes and support services.
Proudly supported by its4women.ie, the highly respected event saw 30 teams participate in the festivities with guests getting to play with an array of sporting heroes and high profile international celebrities such as Mike Tindall, Denise Van Outen, Shane Byrne and Dougray Scott. The stars descended on the renowned K Club golf course in Kildare to enjoy a fantastic day of golf followed by a gala dinner, prize giving ceremony, charity auction and entertainment.
Golfing pro, Padraig Harrington was also on hand to help attendees perfect their technique in an interactive golf clinic.
This fabulous event takes place to raise much needed funds for the Marie Keating Foundation which provides free cancer awareness programmes and support services for men and women in Ireland. The Marie Keating Foundation’s nursing team and Mobile Information Units visit over 25,400 people a year to talk about cancer prevention and early detection, while the Foundation’s Comfort Fund provides financial assistance to families that are struggling as a result of cancer.
The funds from this year's event will be designated to support the Marie Keating Foundation's mobile outreach service supporting eight nurses on three mobile units who are bringing the vital cancer prevention and early detection message to communities throughout the country.
As a son of Marie Keating and Patron of the Foundation, former Boyzone star Ronan Keating hosts this event every year and was also on hand with wife Storm to play a few rounds.
Speaking at the spectacular event, Ronan Keating commented, “The Foundation relies almost entirely on the support of organisations, businesses and individuals across the country. So, I’m delighted to see the support from so many great friends from the world of music, entertainment and sport as well as companies and people who have taken teams. They are helping us reach our fundraising target of €50,000.”
Gary McClarty, Managing Director at MCL Insurance Services, operator of its4women.ie said, “Its4women.ie is honoured to support the Marie Keating Foundation and are looking forward to developing our partnership. The celebrity golf classic was a fantastic way to raise much needed funds to sustain the fantastic services the Foundation provides and help fight cancer. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.”
